Chuckanut Transition Invites the Neighborhood to:
Thursday, June 23, 6:30pm, Alger Community Hall, Chuckanut Transition is giving a presentation on “What is the Transition Movement?” Chuckanut Transition recently gave a presentation at Skagit Valley College through the Skagit Human Rights Festival. The homemade video, conversation groups, and discussion panel were well received. In June, we will present a similar program more focused on our local community. We hope to gather as many people as possible in our neighborhood to discuss: * What is local resilience? * How do we create it? * How do we network and cooperate to create solutions? If you could email your neighbors about the event, we will appreciate any help your can give. Hope you can join us! Thank you! Sincerely, Chuckanut Transition

Thank you, jamin. I have added a link to this thread into the calendar (at top of page).
Would you be kind enough to add the address of the Alger Community Hall for those who are not familiar with Alger itself?
Also, does Chuckanut Transition have a website of any kind that you could link to?

Hello,
Chuckanut Transition feels change is happening and our answer to this change is to position ourselves within resilient communities and to build local economies that can adapt and transform. Chuckanut Transition, based in the Samish River watershed, argues that the best answers are found locally through networking and cooperation, growing local food and economic systems, promoting regional alternative energies, nurturing Skagit's unique culture, and deepening interpersonal connections.
Because of all of the above, we would like to get together with the Cain Lake Resiliency Network. Please let me know if you are interested in having a conversation about your concerns for our community or if you have any questions about Chuckanut Transition. We want to help promote your Website.
Sincerely,
Chuckanut Transition 360-724-0392

Hi jamin, The CLResil nick is for the more formal forum duties. For conversational stuff, I'd prefer to use my less formal nick...this one. I would love to have a conversation with you about Chuckanut Transition, and what my hopes are for the Cain Lake Resiliency Network. I'm intending to go to the presentation you'll be giving on the 23rd. But if you'd like to talk sooner, I'm for that too. We can have the conversation over the phone or on the forum here in another thread. Phone is faster, in person is enjoyable, and conversations tend to be clearer in person, but forum would allow others to read and maybe join in, or at the least get a sense of what this forum is hoping to do, as well as what's available elsewhere. Which would you prefer? If you'd like to talk over the phone or in person, please let me know what times you'd have available. I have no schedule (am home all day), so it'd be easier if we worked around your schedule. The one caveat on that is that my van has NO air flow on the driver's side, so cooler times of the day would be preferable if I have to drive. Feel free to let me know here or in private message.

Jamin, I forgot to mention earlier, Glenhaven Store (heading northeast on Cain Lake Rd) has a corkboard at its front, outside. It's regularly used. Perhaps Chuckanut Transition can put up a flyer for this presentation? It will reach a few more people. Also, and I'm not sure how good this might be, but Glenhaven Lakes Club has a website business directory: www.glenhavenlakes.com/BusinessDirectory.htmlI don't know if it costs, nor how many people it reaches.

Hello Lyn,
Happy that you are interested in Chuckanut Transition. I think you will find the presentation interesting.
I appreciate the heads up on where we can post our fliers. We will post the Bow Little Market poster at the Glenhaven Grocery also. I'll check into the Glenhaven Lakes Club.
You have had a conversation with Sarai also and we both would like to meet you. How about Wednesday, June 15th, noon, at the Alger Bar and Grill?
Let me know if this works for you.
We are busy but flexible.
Janet
